i have evdo and want a wireless network?

i have evdo on my desk top(i live in the country so its the only hispeed available)and want to make a wireless home network.someone on http://evdoforums said i need a cradlepoint evdo router.these cost like 120 dollars and up.is there any other way for me to create a wireless network.why would a normal wireless router work.or would it???? great help guyz.really.i applaud you.

2. From the laptop that has the EVDO card in it, plug a ethernet cord into the NIC ethernet jack to the WAN side of a router. Allow ICS = internet connection share on the Evdo connection and Viola.

   Only downfall is the laptop will have to be on @ all times when connection is to be used on other PC's.
