Does anyone know whether a PCMCIA card interface or USB 2 interface is faster for a Broadband wireless modem?

Have a PCMCIA now and must upgrade to Express slot on new laptop. Don't want to run into compatibility issues so considering USB2 option for Verizon EVDO RevA network. I specifically need to know whether a VERIZON Wireless PCMCIA Broadband wireless card will be any faster than the USB2 version they offer. I prefer the USB2 due to flexibility - i.e. does not matter whether laptop has standard PCMCIA or Express Slot....it will work. My only concern is speed of the two interfaces and whether one is superior to the other.

  1. if the broadband modem or router has an ethernet port on it ie RJ45 port then you are much better off using that.

If you could post back and give me info on what ports are on the back of the modem

  2. To have be best connection wireless I would go with the PCMCIA connection. The USB2 is good, but usually not as nice and stable as the PCMCIA. It also matters what you get, personally I like going with Linksys on things of a network nature. If there are issues they have a number to call (which is toll free) and they will work with you to get the item working.

  3. Go with PCMCIA.......the USB option takes up CPU cycles wher as the PCMCIA option interfaces more directly with the other hardware
