I travel all over the U.S. I thought of the idea some time ago, so purcahsed the equipment when it became available. A Top Global MB8000 wireless router and wireless cams. I set up port forwarding in the router for the cams and dynamic IP through http://opendns.be. I have friends which I call to get some indication they are working, which they seem to be, yet not reliably. In my search for solutions, I came upon Verizon's restrictive use policy. I called them and couldn't get a straight answer regarding blocking my cams, only that the very things I would use the service for except general browsing are restricted. I figure there would be some kind of bit limit, in the tens of gigabytes per month and because I am in many areas where I cannot get EvDO coverage there will be times when video will be very slow or not working.

I was thinking getting rid of Cox, and using my Verizon air card (usb727) w/ a Kyocera KR2 EVDO Router, to be able to connect my home pc and laptop @ home. Then take the card w/ me when on the go. EVDO questions about modem? I am wondering if i can have EVDO as an alternative for my dialup connection, I just dont seem to understand it very well. I have checked to see if i have coverage around my area and I do (Verizon) and i was going to purchase the CradlePoint MBR1000 modem, now do I just use a crossover cable and plug it into my desktop computer once I make a contract with my ISP and thats it? or is there more to it because this seems a bit to basic or too good to be true. Also if that is true that I just plug the modem into my desktop will I get WiFi from my CradlePoint MBR1000 modem that I will be able to recieve from my laptop, if so can I be on both my desktop AND laptop at the same time? Possible to move phone number to Alltel from Verizon? I have had Verizon for almost 2 years now but have lived and worked in an extended area. For me, this is very bad since I have a PDA phone which I use to check emails, go online, and use as a modem for my computer. I ended up finding out that Alltel phones have EVDO coverage where I work and live. I called Verizon to see how long it will take before I can go off of Alltel towers with my Verizon phone. The Verizon technical support said somewhere around 9 months before this merger is complete and I am able to use both towers. So, I call up Alltel to see about switching over to them and find out that because of the ongoing merger, they are unable to move my phone number to Alltel service. My question is WHY? It doesn't make sense why this is not possible. I have ported my number between 3 different companies with no issues. Anyone have an understanding of what could be stopping them from doing this? They are technically the same company....

But uhm, can you tell me what the model and manufacter and what the phone is called of it: Technology: dual 800/1900 CDMA 1X-EVDO It is a Verizon Wireless. When I select Menu, it shows 5 functions. Get it now, Messaging, Contacts, Recent Calls, and Settings & Tools. The phone is black on the back (and has an M and Verizon logo on the back). In the front its shiny grey. I just bought, activated, programed and charged my new LG voyager. i was anxious tot est all teh features and i can't get most of them to work, While i have called verizon about the major problems (OMG NO MOBILE WEB!!!) iPhone battery life is going to suck, any objections? I bought an LG VX8700 from Verizon just yesterday and on a full charge, the battery can last only a day with EVDO enabled (and with barely any talktime used). The iPhone is going to have all the perks of my phone and it will have WiFi access. Needless to say, the battery isn't going to last a long time. I thought the iPhone was a cool concept, but just pointless since you can get a better voice phone, a better MP3 player, a better camera for the price you pay for an iPhone.

I travel all over the U.S. I thought of the idea some time ago, so purcahsed the equipment when it became available. A Top Global MB8000 wireless router and wireless cams. I set up port forwarding in the router for the cams and dynamic IP through http://opendns.be. I have friends which I call to get some indication they are working, which they seem to be, yet not reliably. In my search for solutions, I came upon Verizon's restrictive use policy. I called them and couldn't get a straight answer regarding blocking my cams, only that the very things I would use the service for except general browsing are restricted. I figure there would be some kind of bit limit, in the tens of gigabytes per month and because I am in many areas where I cannot get EvDO coverage there will be times when video will be very slow or not working.

A Question about a verizon wireless cell phone/Service? what does EVDO mean on the reception meter, or I have seen EVDO and digital, and EVDO 1x what does EVDO mean?

Is there a low cost (< $300) cell phone repeater for home use where signal strenght is low? Need a solution for Verizon voice and EVDO coverage at a mountain cabin

I am absolutely sick of Dial-Up, need alternative...? I live out in the country but my neighbor that is probably 1/2-3/4 Miles away has high speed internet but theres no possible way for me to get it, not cable, nor Dsl, I have researched everything and the only way to get it is Satellite (way toooo much money) and Evdo From like verizon but they have a 5gb DL limit and its 99cents per mb after that, if it didnt have the limit, i would get that but for right now im dealing with dial up and have been since 98 and it keeps messin up cuz the phone line is crap so i can barely do anything on the internet and I cant find very many Wifi spots anywhere close hopefully some of you know a way to hack satellite or something thanks....
